Liverpool Target Marc Guehi in Potential £40 Million Move as Contract Standoff Puts Crystal Palace Defender on the Market

Liverpool are keen on signing Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi this Summer,

but will not overpay for the player, who is in the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park. Guehi is unlikely to sign a new deal with Palace, and chairman Steve Parish has admitted he may be sold if no agreement is reached.

The Eagles value the defender at £40 million, though Liverpool’s stance is to avoid paying above market value given his contract situation. The Reds will only move to agree personal terms with Guehi if a transfer fee can first be settled with Palace.

Parish has stated he may have to consider selling Guehi should the 24-year-old refuse to extend his stay. The defender also has the option of running down his current contract and leaving on a free transfer next summer.

A number of top European clubs are believed to be monitoring Guehi’s situation, with significant interest expected if he becomes available as a free agent at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté is also entering the final year of his Liverpool contract, Liverpool could view Guehi as a potential replacement.
