Welcome to Premier Pulse. I am Mitchell Poirier, a former professional soccer analyst with experience at both collegiate and professional levels in Canada. My goal is to bring the same rigorous tactical analysis used in elite football environments to fans, players, and sports enthusiasts around the world. I began my career with Queen’s University Men’s Soccer in Kingston, Ontario, where I focused on opposition analysis, match preparation, and performance evaluation at the collegiate level. Following that, I served as Head of Analysis for FC Edmonton in the Canadian Premier League, overseeing tactical analysis, match modeling, and data-driven decision-making for the first team. My tenure at FC Edmonton concluded following the club’s dissolution due to administrative and financial issues.

After leaving professional football operations, I founded Premier Pulse to provide professional-level football analysis publicly, applying the same analytical frameworks used in elite environments to the English Premier League. My work emphasizes tactical structure, game-state dynamics, and identifying market inefficiencies, offering readers insight into the game as well as informed betting guidance.

How I Analyze Matches

1. Tactical Formation & Style Assessment

I examine how teams line up, their pressing and defensive shapes, how they transition between phases of play, how they attack, where they are strong, and where they are susceptible. I spend approximately 15-20 hours per week watching match film to complete my video analysis of the Premier League matches each week.

Using historical data, xG models, possession patterns, key performance metrics, and individual player data, I identify trends that influence outcomes.

3. Player Impact & Scenario Modeling

Individual performance, injuries, and lineup changes are incorporated to adjust predictions and expected team performances.

4. Market & Betting Insights

When looking at betting markets: Once the tactical and statistical picture is clear, I analyze market probabilities to identify value bets – always secondary to analysis, never the sole focus.
