Bournemouth vs West Ham: 2-2

The southern coast of England was hit with terrible weather this weekend, with high winds and heavy rain. Bournemouth and West Ham stepped out at Vitality Stadium in what was borderline storm conditions.

The second half told a completely different story, with the Cherries dominating. With 79% possession, 3.49 xG, and eight shots on target in the second half alone, West Ham were merely hanging on. A handball in the box gave Bournemouth a lifeline, and Marcus Tavernier converted from the spot in the 69th minute. Enes Ünal went on to tie the match 2–2 in the 81st minute.

West Ham managed to avoid conceding a winner, though Bournemouth came close. A 2–2 result saw the points shared.

Arsenal vs Tottenham: 4-1

The North London Derby delivered a night of one-sided excitement for Arsenal fans. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the 36th minute after the Gunners dominated the early stages.

Before the match, Thomas Frank claimed in his press conference that he “didn’t know” Eberechi Eze following the controversial summer transfer from Spurs to Arsenal. If he didn’t know him then, he certainly does now – Eze scored in the 41st, 46th, and 76th minutes, completing the first Premier League hat-trick in the North London Derby.

Richarlison pulled one back in the 55th minute with a clever 35-yard strike that caught David Raya off his line.

This edition of the derby finished 4–1 to the Gunners.

Manchester United vs Everton: 0-1

A bag of mixed emotions here for Toffees fans I’m sure. Everton saw themselves go down to 10 men early on in this one in the 13th minute when Idrissa Gana Gueye seemingly blew up at teammate Michael Keane before Gueye then struck Keane in the face with an open-palmed slap. The Everton midfielder was shown a red and headed for the showers early.

10-man Everton were able to take the lead in the 29th minute through Kiernan Drewsbury-Hall. Once Everton got the lead, the difficult task of defending it while up a man began – and Everton defended it well, holding onto the narrow margin for the remainder of the match despite Manchester United’s unrelenting pressure.
